Maharishi Vedic Medicine Explained“I could sleep through a fire siren, but my husband wakes if
a pin drops.” You are unique! Maharishi Vedic Medicine explains differences between individuals and offers a complete system of personalised health-care, addressing every part of your life. Maharishi Vedic Medicine is our planet’s original health science - nature’s own medicine. At the heart of Maharishi Vedic Medicine is the concept of creating balance and harmony for the mind - body and strengthening the body’s healing abilities. It is the world’s most ancient and comprehensive system of natural medicine. Over time, the knowledge of Vedic Medicine became lost. Four people, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, and three of India's top experts in Vedic Medicine, restored and systematised this ancient knowledge according to the old Ayur-Veda Vedic texts. They also established an international network of doctors, clinics and schools. This system of natural medicine has become known as Maharishi's Vedic approach to health. Maharishi Vedic Medicine provides a firm intellectual understanding, which our modern minds need, as to why we have the symptoms we have and what we can do to change them. It empowers us to take control of our own health care and stress reduction, and offers many simple guidelines for improving performance, and living a long quality life. |

Understanding Vata, Pitta, KaphaAccording to Vedic Medicine the body is made up of three doshas (doe-shuhz) called Vata, Pitta and Kapha. They guide your first responses to environmental stressors of all kinds – climate, dietary, physical, mental and emotional. The doshas are also seen in nature outside you - in the climate, foods, drinks, seasons and times of the day – all of which interact with your physiology, through your own doshas. All three doshas work together. For example, in each cell in the body, we see the actual structure (kapha) of the cell, the movement (vata) of information and nutrients in and out of the cell, and the numerous chemical transformations (pitta), which occur within the cell to sustain life. Your individual responses to life and your tendencies are reflections of the unique combination of these qualities in your mind and body. This includes body structure, mental/emotional makeup and predisposition to illnesses. These innate tendencies can become covered by imbalances that arise in the body and mind due to stress, seasonal changes, and dietary and lifestyle choices. This accumulation of imbalance left unaddressed over time leads to illness and disease. True Vedic Medicine focuses on a specific health goal and balances your current symptoms first, regardless of your underlying type, as it takes care of itself when you are in a state of balance. |
